Automotive News is a weekly newspaper written for 65,000 automotive retailers, suppliers and manufacturers.[2] It is based in Detroit and owned by Crain Communications Inc. The brand has a team of more than 50 editors and reporters worldwide.

History

Automotive News was founded in 1925 by Slocum Publishing. Crain Communications purchased it in 1971. Automotive News Europe began in 1996 and Automotive News China in 2006. Today, both offer online publications and Automotive News Europe has four executive print editions planned for 2011. Since 2009, Automotive News Brasil has been published under a license agreement in Sao Paulo by Sirius Comunicacao.

The company is headquartered at 1155 Gratiot Avenue in downtown Detroit.

Management and ownership

Keith E. Crain is editor-in-chief of Automotive News and chairman of the board of Crain Communications. Peter Brown is the publisher and editorial director, and Jason Stein is the editor.

The Automotive News Green Car Conference and Exhibition and the Automotive News Manufacturing Conference are held every second year.
